Build firearms integrations without the boilerplate

Every GunSpec asset is a working starting point for the firearms specification API: spreadsheet macros, command-line exporters, a typed SDK, and a ready-to-import Postman collection. Drop in your API key and you are pulling live data on makes, models, calibers, and ballistics in minutes.

Whether you are an analyst building a catalog in Excel, a game developer wiring real weapon stats into an engine, or an engineer shipping a comparison tool, start from the thing that is already maintained: a spreadsheet script, an official SDK, or the OpenAPI document itself.

Spreadsheets

Excel VBA Module

VBA module (.bas) with macros that pull firearms data directly into Excel. List, search, detail view, and side-by-side comparison. Import via Alt+F11.

Google Apps Script

Apps Script for Google Sheets with custom menu and cell functions. =GUNSPEC_LIST(), =GUNSPEC_SEARCH(), =GUNSPEC_FIREARM(). Paste into Extensions > Apps Script.

Scripts & SDKs

Python SDK

The official Python client: sync and async, typed models, auto-pagination. Published on PyPI and kept in step with the TypeScript one.

Node.js / TypeScript SDK

The official typed client: every endpoint, auto-pagination, retries and conditional requests. Published on npm and generated from the same contract the API serves.

API Collections

Postman Collection

Import the OpenAPI document straight into Postman and get every one of the 134 endpoints, with parameters, descriptions and auth already set. Nothing to keep up to date - the spec is generated from the API itself.

How it works

From API key to working integration

Four steps, no build tooling required.

  1. 01

    Get your free API key

Sign up and generate a key from your dashboard. The free tier covers the full firearms catalog.

  2. 02

    Pick a template

Choose a spreadsheet macro, a script, the SDK, or the Postman collection based on the tool you use.

  3. 03

    Add your key

Drop the key into a single constant. Local downloads auto-detect your development API URL.

  4. 04

    Customize and ship

Filter, export, or extend the template to fit your project, then move it into production.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need before you download.

Are the templates really free?

Yes. Every template and the SDK are free to download and use. You only need a GunSpec API key, and the free tier covers the full firearms catalog.

Do I need to know how to code?

Not for the spreadsheet templates. The Excel and Google Sheets options add menus and cell functions you use without writing code. The Python, Node, and Postman options assume basic developer familiarity.

How do I get an API key?

Create a free account and generate a key from your dashboard. Paste it into the template's API key constant and you are ready to pull live data.

What data can I access?

All 134 endpoints: firearms, manufacturers, calibers, categories, full-text search, comparisons, images, and game stats. The templates handle pagination automatically.

Can I use these commercially?

Yes. You can use the templates and the data they return in commercial products, subject to the API terms of service and your plan's rate limits.

Do they work with local development?

Yes. The spreadsheet scripts you download from localhost point at your local API automatically, and the SDKs take a base URL so you can aim them at either.

Need something custom?
