POF G3P4

Pakistan Ordnance Factories · Battle Rifle · In Production · 1967

Also known as: G3A4, POF G3 P4

Overview

The POF G3P4 is a 7.62x51mm NATO battle rifle license-produced by Pakistan Ordnance Factories, based on the Heckler & Koch G3A4 with a retractable telescoping metal stock. It uses the roller-delayed blowback action characteristic of the G3 family and feeds from 20-round detachable box magazines, offering both semi-automatic and full-automatic fire. The collapsing stock reduces overall length for vehicle crews, airborne troops, and other users needing a more compact rifle than the fixed-stock G3A3 / G3P3.

Notes

POF designates its license-built G3 rifles as the G3P series; the G3P4 corresponds to the H&K G3A4 with retractable stock, while the G3P3 corresponds to the fixed-stock G3A3.

Background

Pakistan Ordnance Factories became one of the largest licensed producers of the Heckler & Koch G3 outside Germany, manufacturing the rifle in vast quantities for the Pakistan Army and exporting it widely; the G3P4's collapsing stock made it the issue choice for crews and troops who needed a shorter weapon.
