Also known as: Ithaca Model 37 Defense, Model 37 Defense

Overview

The Ithaca 37 Defense is a 12-gauge pump-action home-defense shotgun and a member of the long-running Ithaca Model 37 family. Introduced in 2009 by the reorganized Ithaca Gun Company, it retains the classic bottom-loading, bottom-ejecting slide action and a receiver machined from a solid block of steel with the barrel threaded permanently into it. Offered with an 18.5-inch or 20-inch plain barrel, a 3-inch chamber, and a tubular magazine, it is a modern equivalent of the Model 37 'M&P' shotguns long used by military and police forces.

Background

The Ithaca Model 37 traces to a John Browning patent completed by John Pedersen, and its bottom-ejecting design has served American police, military, and home-defense users for more than eight decades, making it one of the longest-produced pump shotguns in history.
